LONG BEACH, Calif. (Feb. 28, 2018) — PRSSA-LB is updating the date and time of several events taking place in March and April of the Spring 2018 semester. The chapter has cancelled the Resume, Cover Letter and LinkedIn Workshop on March 9 and has booked Warner Bros. Digital Marketing Manager Colin Sommer as the guest speaker for the April 12 meeting. An additional guest speaker meeting and a second career tour are currently being coordinated for the home stretch of the semester.
PRSSA members who planned on attending the workshop are encouraged to instead attend the CV/Cover Letter Workshop being held by the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) on March 7. As for the April 12 meeting, the room and time will remain as USU Room 205 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sommer is scheduled to join the chapter during the meeting via Google Hangouts. Sommer is the lead digital marketer for the Harry Potter Global Franchise Development group at Warner Bros. and will speak on his experience with digital media and brand storytelling.
In addition to the aforementioned updates, PRSSA-LB is scheduling a final guest speaker meeting with Los Angeles Lakers Director of Community Relations Mathew Makovec. The target date range of the meeting is the week of April 30 and the precise date and time will be posted on the chapter’s calendar as soon as it is confirmed. Makovec will join the meeting in-person to discuss social responsibility in the sports industry. The chapter is also targeting a career tour of the Aquarium of the Pacific public relations department in the month of May. The date and time of this event will also be posted on the calendar once confirmed.
