Digital Dialogue and its Importance

By Claudia Cazares

Social media presence has become very important specially during this time, in 2018. Seventy-seven percent of the U.S population reported to have had a social media profile according to The Statistics Portal. This has given businesses a reason to take action and involve their brand in this fast growing technology era. According to Ethinos there are five reasons why businesses should include social media in their public relations plans:
  1. Social media increases referral visitors. By increasing referral visitors, companies are able to create brand awareness by simply letting current consumers share with other potential consumers.
  2. Social media can enhance customer relationships. Since social media is accessible almost everywhere, if done correctly it can enhance the chances of open communication and a stronger bond with customers.
  3. Social media can aid when managing crisis. Being prepared is crucial when managing a crisis. MojoMediaLabs provides three different examples on how social media has changed the game in the way that companies interact and share information to its audience and stakeholders.
  4. Social media can generate leads. Being active is social media can guide businesses when generating leads by providing relevant content which can keep people coming back.
  5. Social media can help businesses analyze their content. Lastly by analyzing content engagement you will be able to see what is working for your business and what it not.
The different ways that companies can utilize social media to create brand awareness, as well as managing a crisis, can help PR practitioners make decisions on the importance of social media as a communication tool.
