Jolyn Matsumuro has been working in the field of public relations for 25 years. She is currently a partner in an agency specializing in entertainment and entertainment-based clients, creating and executing campaigns for both corporations and individuals. Prior to that, she held public relations positions at several record companies, including the Island Def Jam Music Group, Virgin Records, Geffen Records and Mercury Records.
Matsumuro holds a master’s degree in communication management from the University of Southern California, where her thesis evaluated the messages of military-issued communication and the impact it had on media coverage. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University with a dual major in public relations and policy studies. While at Syracuse, she was a member of the Policy Studies Honorary, Pi Sigma Sigma, and the Syracuse University women’s honorary society, Eta Pi Upsilon.
As an External Communications Manager at Chipotle Mexican Grill, Stefani oversees an integrated communications strategy to bring the brand’s purpose of cultivating a better world to life. In this role Stefani works closely with cross departmental leaders to ensure alignment across channels, driving awareness for Chipotle, the executive leadership team and key brand initiatives.
From travel & tourism to fashion & fitness,consumer products & beauty, Stefani has worked across a variety of industries and high profile brands including Barbie where she spent time in both the PR and Brand Marketing departments.
Stefani graduated from California State University Long Beach with a degree in Journalism. Stefani’s undergraduate education experience included being a member of PRSSA and the Bateman Team. Stefani is excited to be the PRSSA Professional Adviser and looks forward to partnering with students as they launch their professional careers to become the future leaders of PR.
